FAQ’s

How is decontamination measured?

A log calculation measures decontamination. Essentially, 1 log means 90% of microorganisms have been eliminated or destroyed.

What level is a safe level of decontamination?

The level of decontamination required depends on the environment. In extremely sensitive areas, such as pharmaceutical situations, clinical settings and so on, we always decontaminate to a six log level, which is 10 -6.

What does decontamination do?

iHP Decontamination removes microbial life from environments, including bacterial spores, fungal spores, viruses, fungi, and bacteria.

What is deep cleaning?

This involves strategically, and logically cleaning an environment with appropriate cleaning agents. It includes cleaning fixtures and fittings, light bulbs, high cleaning, surface cleaning, floor cleaning, wall cleaning and ensuring all equipment and apparatus within that environment is also cleaned.

How often should we clean our environment?

The cleaning schedule should be devised based on a thorough risk assessment, and the consequences of failure to keep a hygienic environment.

We can work with you to ensure you have an appropriate schedule in place with adequate levels of cleaning and decontamination.

We can provide you with regular scheduled deep cleans and decontaminations to ensure you are compliant with legislation in your sector, and more importantly that you are able to maintain a safe and healthy environment.

Who needs to use decontamination services?

Anyone that needs to control the microbial presence in an environment should use decontamination services. Not every client we encounter requires a hydrogen peroxide decontamination intervention.

The level of intervention should appropriate to the risks and the environment, and the dangers of infection. We work with a number of different sectors on a regular basis, including farmers, healthcare facilities, medical establishments, law enforcement, MOD and defence clients, pharmaceutical companies, food production industries and a variety of other industrial, commercial and clinical clients.

Is hydrogen peroxide safe?

Hydrogen peroxide is an extremely dangerous substance. In concentrated form it is lethal.

We use hygiene peroxide in a very dilutive form, but a concentration that is sufficient to kill all microbial life and clean an environment. Hydrogen peroxide as a chemical formula of H2O2. Over a short period of time, the second oxygen molecule unbinds itself from the H2O as it combines with other elements in the atmosphere. You are then left with H2O, water. Once the decontamination process is completed with hydrogen peroxide, the environment is completely safe.

Our trained engineers are specialists in working with hydrogen peroxide. They follow stringent best practice processes to ensure they are safe, and the environment is quarantined, so it is safe for all those in the vicinity.

How much does a decontamination intervention cost?

Every project is entirely different. At BioDecon we charge based on the size of the area to be decontaminated, any special requirements, and whether it is a one off all a regular contract job.

Is decontamination easy?

iHP Decontamination involves eliminating and destroying microbial life. The level to which you want to decontaminate the environment dictates the difficulty of the procedure, and how dangerous the chemicals you need to use.

Using hydrogen peroxide to decontaminate is extremely dangerous, and it is crucial that experienced, skilled, highly trained engineers carry out the process. Of course, partially decontaminating and deep cleaning an environment is a much more accessible process for those that want to do it themselves. However, it still it takes a good level of thought and strategy to ensure that you don’t miss areas, and use the right tools and cleaning agents in the right places.

We always recommend that anyone that has a sensitive environment that requires hygienic cleaning calls in professional decontaminant cleaners.
